Personalized Journals Inspire Creativity
Former middle school science teacher turned artist, Megan Linebaugh has a heart for foster children. She noticed that students in the system often had difficulty in school and struggled with the realities of circumstances that were beyond their control. While working with the after-school program helping students develop their creativity, Linebaugh saw the foster care kids in the program come alive though through drawing and writing. That discovery eventually led to her desire to provide FaithBridge children with personalized journals, for free.
“Since I started Megan’s Mark and began crafting leather goods with personal touches I’ve wanted to use my leatherwork skills to bring a smile to the face of the sweet children in our community,” Linebaugh said. “I was introduced to FaithBridge after attending an Encounter training at my church and was touched by FaithBridge’s commitment to bridging the gap between those who need help and those who can help.
“I often remember how my students would light up when they had the opportunity to be creative, which is why Megan’s Mark is committed to donating a refillable leather journal/sketchbook to each child (ages 2 and up) placed through FaithBridge. It’s our hope that having this journal will provide each child an outlet to process their experiences and let their creative juices flow!”
All of Linebaugh’s leather goods are crafted at her workshop in Georgia, where she also crafts handbags, laptop sleeves, accessories and more.
“Each journal will come personalized with the child’s name on it so that through the years they can have something they know belongs just to them – hopefully serving as a reminder of how special and worthy they are,” she said. “We know that each child is a blessing, and we trust that wherever their life takes them, they’ll make their mark!”
