All in the Family

Brittany* and her siblings bounced around from relative to relative, in and out of foster care. By the age of  seven, she had more addresses than some have in a lifetime, all which came with new rules, new adults and new…well, new everything.

But this next new place came with something that was well worth the move: Brittany would be in the same house with her siblings for the first time in a few years. And that made it a move she wanted to make.

In her new FaithBridge home, she and her brother and sister have been given the gift of feeling secure, loved and safe, feelings that they hadn’t always been able to feel. It was in that secure, loving and safe home that Brittany also met Jesus. She put her faith in Him, all of her 7-year-old self and understanding.

It’s the love of foster parents like Brittany who create environments that make stories like this possible. How might you participate in the stories of foster child to help them feel safe?

“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.”

– Deuteronomy 6:4-7
