Coalition of Rome Churches Launch Christian Foster Care
Program
Public Invited to Attend Ministry Kickoff on
Sunday, January 31
Rome, GA (January 25,
2010) - A coalition of six congregations in Rome will launch a
Christian foster care program on Sunday, January 31, 2010 by
holding a Foster Care Ministry Orientation in the chapel of Unity
Christian School from 6 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. The public is
invited to attend. Visit www.faithbridgefostercare.org or call 706.409.5068 for questions or
directions.
The six founding church partners include First
Presbyterian Church, Fifth Avenue Baptist Church, Hollywood Baptist
Church, Lakeview Baptist Church, Three Rivers Community Church, and
Seven Hills Fellowship. The group has named the mission
Project127Rome for the biblical call to serve orphans found in
James 1:27.*
There are more than 10,000 Georgia children in
foster care and 224 in Floyd County. In addition, there are
less than half of the necessary foster families to serve
them. Find out how the local church and individuals can serve
Rome's foster children. In addition to becoming a foster
parent, there are many ways to get involved, such as volunteering
to assist with clothing, material goods, transportation, and
more. Find out all of the ways to become involved at the
service on January 31.
"We are excited to have Rome's Christian
community come together with local service providers to help
children who need loving, stable families," said Bill R. Hancock,
founder and president of FaithBridge Foster Care. "By coming
together and deploying an unparalleled service and support system,
these churches and the individuals who open up their homes and
their hearts have the potential to change the way Floyd County does
foster care."
This new ministry is in partnership with
FaithBridge Foster Care, a Christ-centered, tax-exempt organization
intent on changing U.S. foster care. With currently more than
14 church partners in north Georgia and the greater Atlanta area,
FaithBridge's strategy is to mobilize, organize, equip and release
local churches and communities to solve the country's foster care
crisis. For more information on FaithBridge, please call
