FaithBridge Foster Care introduces new name and website
Alpharetta, GA (April 20, 2009) - In an effort
to better communicate its mission and vision, Cornerstone Family
Services is changing its name to FaithBridge Foster Care effective
today. Along with the new name, the company is launching a new
website that features updated content, rich multimedia and a
streamlined, online foster care application.
President and CEO Bill Hancock commented on the new identity,
"It's never easy to change a name, but we decided after much prayer
and reflection that FaithBridge better reflects our organization's
mission, which is to help the Christian community bridge the gap
between a large societal crisis and individuals in need."
Hancock founded the organization in 2006 in response to the
country's foster care crisis. "Each year, nearly 800,000 children
are temporarily removed from their parents' care for reasons
ranging from neglect and abandonment to abuse," Hancock said. "But
there are only 240,000 or so foster families to care for them."
FaithBridge Foster Care believes that the local church, with its
existing infrastructure, vibrant ministries and caring
congregations, can address the foster care problems of capacity,
stability and quality. With a scriptural mandate to engage in a
foster care ministry and more than 300,000 churches and 100 million
evangelical Christians nationwide, FaithBridge believes that the
local church is uniquely positioned to solve the foster care
crisis.
FaithBridge Foster Care works with the local churches to create
and manage independent foster care ministries. In addition to
facilitating training and certification, it creates a Community of
CareSM
