Griffin First Assembly Church of God
Holds Foster Care Orientation May 23, 2010
Griffin First Assembly of God recently announced its Spalding
County Christian foster care program and had its first orientation
in late February. The organization is holding its second
orientation Sunday, May 23 at 12:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall,
Room 100, at the church located on 2000 West McIntosh Road in
Griffin, Ga. The public is invited to attend all
events. Visit www.faithbridgefostercare.org or call
770.228.2307 for questions or directions.
There are more than 10,000 Georgia children in foster care and 118
in Spalding County. In addition, there are less than half of
the necessary foster families to serve them. Find out how the
local church and individuals can serve Griffin's foster
children. In addition to becoming a foster parent, there are
many ways to get involved, such as volunteering to assist with
clothing, material goods, transportation, and more. Find out
all of the ways to become involved at the orientation on May
23.
For couples and families who have attended the first orientation
or who attend the upcoming orientation and are ready to take the
next step in becoming foster parents or volunteers, IMPACT training
will be held the weekend of June 4 - 6, 2010. The intensive
two-and-a-half day session is designed to prepare couples and
families for the physical, emotional and spiritual demands of
foster care. The session runs Friday evening, all day
Saturday and Sunday afternoon.
This new ministry is in partnership with FaithBridge Foster Care,
a Christ-centered, tax-exempt organization intent on changing U.S.
foster care. With currently more than 14 church partners in
north Georgia and the greater Atlanta area, FaithBridge's strategy
is to mobilize, organize, equip and release local churches and
communities to solve the country's foster care crisis. For
