FaithBridge Foster Care serves 100th child
Atlanta-based Christian foster care agency experiences fast
growth
Alpharetta, GA (July 15, 2009) - FaithBridge Foster Care reached
a significant milestone today with the placement of the
100th child in its Christ-centered foster care program.
Founded just two years ago in response to our country's foster care
crisis, the private child placing agency partners with area
churches to recruit, train and support families and volunteers who
care for foster children who need loving, stable homes.
"Having reached this milestone so quickly is validation of our
unique small group approach to foster care," said FaithBridge
Foster Care Chief Executive Officer Bill Hancock. "Engaging with
local churches offers a unique, proven way to raise and retain
foster family capacity and helps us to professionally serve a
significant population of foster children in a short amount of
time."
FaithBridge Foster Care began operations in 2007 in partnership
with Mount Bethel United Methodist Church in Marietta, and today
partners with Eastside Baptist and Corridor Church, both in
Marietta, along with First Baptist Church Woodstock.
To date, FaithBridge has served several Georgia counties
including Cherokee, Cobb, Floyd, and more. As its community and
church partnerships expand, Hancock expects to serve other metro
Atlanta counties, including Fulton and DeKalb which face a
tremendous challenge in serving their foster children.
"While there's so much more to be done, we're proud of the
progress we've made," said Hancock. One of the things FaithBridge
Foster Care strives to do is to keep siblings together when they
enter foster care - either in the same home or the same community.
Of the children placed with FaithBridge, nearly two out of three
were placed with one or more of their siblings.
