More than 10,000 children in Georgia, each one with
individual needs. The number and diversity of children in
foster care places a tremendous burden on many individuals and
organizations, not the least of which are the state agencies tasked
with managing their care. Often, case workers find themselves with
increased workloads, shrinking budgets and fewer available
resources.
FaithBridge Foster Care recognizes the challenges facing
government agencies and sees our role as that of a partner,
providing support and services that are designed to help reduce
some of the workload. We work closely with agencies to understand
the individual needs of the children entering foster care before
placing them with a family in our community network.
Our priority is making the first placement the right placement
to avoid moving children multiple times. Throughout the child's
stay in our network, our family consultants are available guide and
assist our foster families and regularly communicate with
relevant agencies. In addition, FaithBridge Foster Care
also provides:
Community counseling and support services. When
children enter foster care, they and their foster parents need help
adjusting to this new environment. We ensure children have the
coping skills to address their feelings of abandonment and loss. At
the same time, we help foster parents deal with issues like
discipline and sibling rivalry. In addition to counseling
services, our Community of Care model ensures that foster families
never feel alone by providing a supportive, loving network that
offers many services including respite care, tutoring,
transportation and much more.
Transportation. When a child is in our care, we
handle all transportation, including doctor's appointments, home
visitation, court appointments, etc. We know that being in the care
of a loving, familiar individual makes a big difference when
children have somewhere to go.
Advocacy and documentation. We act as an
advocate for every child placed in our network by participating in
all activities related to the child's welfare, including attending
all Family Team Meetings (FTM), Multi-Discipline Teams (MDT), panel
reviews and court hearings. We also assist with visitations to the
biological family and provide our own documentation on the child's
progress. Our mission is to ensure the courts have the information
needed to protect the child's long-term well being.
